Rep. Kevin McCarthy has dropped out of the race to become the next Speaker of the House on the heels

On the heels of admitting to abusing Congressional power for political gain, Rep. Kevin McCarthy has just dropped out of the race to replace John Boehner as the next Speaker of the House.

"Tell the House Republicans to Shut Down the Select Committee on Benghazi Now"

Last week, Rep. McCarthy bragged on national television about using taxpayer resources to influence the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election, telling Sean Hannity:

“Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi Special Committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping.”

That is not just a “gaffe.” That is Rep. McCarthy proudly explaining that the Benghazi Committee is a political stunt. And him dropping out of the Speaker's race is not enough.

The Select Committee on Benghazi has cost American taxpayers $4.5 million and has lasted even longer than the Watergate investigation.

Now that we have proof that the Republicans set it up as a campaign tactic, we simply cannot allow it to continue.

Using taxpayer dollars to further a political agenda is unethical. But using taxpayer dollars to exploit a national tragedy that resulted in the loss of four American lives is utterly reprehensible.
